thoughts from mom

Hi Family!!!!! Thought I'd share a thought or two from MOM & Dad. We are having a wonderful time working in the temple on Fri-Sat. of each weekend. We have been so blessed to be able to do this. We have become really close to many of the brothers and sisters we work with and love them all. We now have a temple family to love and enjoy throughout the eternities to come.

The weather has been kinda back and forth between snowstorms and beautiful sunny spring days but spring is really here---I wish you could see the beautiful pink magnolia tree that is in bloom on the temple grounds and the thousands of tulips, daffodils, pansies and other beautiful spring flowers just beginning to bloom. The grounds are beautiful. It really lifts our spirits to see all the beautiful flowers--the brides& grooms and happy families surrounding them when we arrive at the temple each Friday afternoon. We feel such joy & peace the minute we get out of the car and enter the temple. We feel we are really home each time we go to the temple.

How very loved, protected and blessed I feel as I enter our Heavenly Father's House where there is such a peace and the spirit is so strong and sweet.

Thought I would share with you a thumbnail sketch or outline of what our weekend is like. As soon as we enter the temple we go to our dressing rooms and dress in our white clothing. We each have a locker and dressing area---one for the men and another for the women. We then go to our seperate study areas where it is really quiet and comfortable where we study the scriptures or procedures for our assignments---for about 45min to an hour---it is our personal preparation time for Sat.

We then meet in the inner foyer and go downstairs to the cafeteria for our Fri. nite meal. There is ususually someone from the Fri. nite shift we know to socialize with and to eat with---sometimes even Uncle Garth &Aunt Joan Glenn are there.

After eating dinner we return upstairs and check to see if there is a need for sealings to be done. For you that have not been to the temple yet & for you Grandchildren---this is a very special ordiance performed for those who died without the gospel---We are married for all eternity--sealed together --as your parents who have been married in the temple were and then the children are sealed to the parents. This makes an eternal family . I can't explain the details to you here ---so ask your Mom&Dad all about it. This is one of our favorite things to do on Fri. nites. It helps us to love each of you even more than we do. The spirit was so very strong last Fri. nite that all four couples participating in this special ordinance were in tears the entire time.

How very much we desire to see all of our families be eternal families and to join us in the joy of living with our Heavenly Father & Saviour in the eternities to come.

After doing sealings we do an endowment session which usually takes us to about 8:30 and then we change clothing and go to Sis. Davis home and go to bed so we can get up at 2:30 or 3:30 in the morning to get ready to return to the temple by 4 or 5 in the morning depending on which rotation we are assigned to. Moms&Dads ---explain to the grandchildren that an endowment is a gift of knowledge given to us by our Father in Heaven that will help us to learn what we need to do and know to live with him again someday and that we have to go to the temple when we are old enough and worthy in order to recieve that gift of knowledge.

Sat. morning starts with a prayer meeting where we recieve instructions for the day and our assignment scheduale. Sometimes Grandpa & I are together but usually we don't see much of one another until our shift is over somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00.----unless we are in the endowment session together. But that is OK. We have a Fri. nite date every weekend together and we are both doing the Lord's work. It is so wonderful to feel our Heavenly Father's love and the presence of our Saviour. Just thinking that where we walk in that Holy House is where He has also walked probably many times -just gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes. (Casey----We see and work with your Grandparents Page every week.)

After our shift is finnished we meet in the foyer and again go down to the cafeteria for lunch before returning home. It is a wonderful time with visits with those we work with in the temple.

I know that this may sound very boring---and why does Grandma call it work? The things we do in the temple for people living and for those who have died are so very special and sacred that Grandma & Grandpa can't tell you more but only tell you that it is the most beautiful and special place in all the world where you can be so very close to our Heavenly Father and our Saviour Jesus Christ. We bear you our witness and promise you with all our hearts and souls that THEY KNOW EACH of YOU and LOVE EACH of YOU!!!! We know that is true with all our hearts.

We pray our Heavenly Father and Saviour Jesus Christ will bless and watch over each of you and that you will come to know the joy of what we are doing each weekend.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the family reunion in July. Love MOM&DAD --Grandma &Grandpa Glenn
